Data Analysis Assignment

Companies (and individuals) have access to so much data.  Even if your job isn’t a data-facing role, it is important to understand HOW the data is processed and WHERE your answers are coming from.  Since you already watched the LinkedIn Learning videos on data analysis, this week we are going to do a little tiny bit of analysis practice.   A great example of a data organization that collects ongoing data on a variety of projects is The Pew Research Center, an online resource that carries out numerous fascinating studies and provides data for people to use, often for free. This week I have provided you with a survey they did on social media AND the final data set that they used. Calling on all of your new (and old) data analysis information you are to start by reading through the survey THOROUGHLY.  Compare it to the excel spreadsheet to make sure you understand how the questions correspond to various columns and rows.   For the assignment I want you to demonstrate your ability to run some basic demographic analyses.  You need to answer the following questions with both a table AND a couple of sentences describing what’s interesting about the findings. Q1: What percentage of men/women in the survey? Q2: How often did people use the internet? Q3: In a large table show the percentage of people who use EACH DIFFERENT SOCIAL MEDIA site. Note: There is more than one way to get at these results – some are easier than others, but the goal is to find what works for you.  I am looking for final answers and don’t care as much about the journey, although this is an INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT and you aren’t to be using each other for help.   Submit a word file with the tables and “Write-ups” by WEDNESDAY at noon.  That’s it!
