During this week’s readings we explored ideas, themes, and literary devices (i.e., symbolism, diction, etc.) in selected poems by Lydia Huntley Sigourney and John Greenleaf Whittier. Now it’s your turn to do some independent analysis of their poetry. Choose 1 poem from each author. In 2-3 paragraphs, analyze and compare them in terms of the ideas they express, and the literary devices they use to express those ideas. Feel free to explore differences and well as similarities in their content and technique that are of interest to you.
