This assignment asks you to identify 5-7 possible research sources to utilize in the final argumentative research essay. You will be sharing this annotated bibliography with your instructor and possibly your classmates, but its most important function will be for your own reference as you continue to search for credible sources that are relevant to your research questions. Speaker/Author: You Purpose: To provide a brief description of your proposed topic and to identify 5-7 possible research sources to utilize in the exploratory research essay. The length of the assignment will need to be at least 1000 words to fully achieve this purpose. Audience: You, your instructor, your colleagues Your Task Arrangement: After briefly re-introducing your proposed topic (2-3 sentences), including your working thesis in its current state of evolution, the 1000-word (minimum) evaluative annotated bibliography should do the following for each source: Summarize the work as objectively as possible. Evaluate the source for credibility. Who is the author? Who is the publisher? What is the author’s purpose in writing this piece? Describe how the source might be useful or relevant to your argumentative research essay. Does it help to answer or shed light upon any of your research questions? Does it represent an opposing viewpoint? How does it support your working thesis? Style: Academic. Memory. Sources. 5-7 Sources. Sources should be triangulated. That is, they should include print sources (books, scholarly articles, magazines, newspapers), electronic sources (Scholarly websites, government websites, commercial websites, blogs, videos) and empirical sources (interviews, surveys, field observations, experiments, case studies, personal experience). Delivery. Format. Information should be arranged according to recognized formatting guidelines, either MLA, APA, or Chicago.
