Students will complete a detailed 8-10 page (APA Format) paper on a selected disability. The title page and references do not count towards your 8-page limit. The paper should address the following areas in relation to the chosen disability:  1. Health Condition/Body Functions & Structures [10 points] a. incidence, prevalence, & etiology [3 points] b. biological/medical aspects & management across the lifespan [4 points] c. relevant research on treatment & interventions [3 points]  2. Activities and Participation – potential effect on… [5 points] a. Mobility b. Self-care c. Communication & Interpersonal relationships d. Education e. Employment  3. Environmental Factors – the potential influence of… [7 points] a. Societal attitudes and social supports [3 points] b. Service Systems [2 points] c. Assistive Technology [2 points]  4. Personal Factors [3 points] a. Write about a minimum of three personal factors that you feel would be most important to be aware of in serving a person with this disability.  5. Use a minimum of 5 scholarly references (peer-reviewed journals, governmental websites, etc.) [2 points]  6. Use APA formatting for paper- utilize the writing center or Purdue OWL for guidance on APA style. [2 points]
