Mumps Disease Writing Assignment  Write a minimum 3 full pages – typed/double spaced – report with sources listed at the end. Written report that must include at least the following info: history of the disease health hazards /dangers the population of people it affects who/how it was discovered cures/immunizations/treatment (who discovered?) how many people died from it/presently have it how it is/was spread(mode of transmission) how many people get immunized per year/how much $ is made from immunizations/ what is the immunization efficacy? way the spread was stopped/efforts to contain the disease if it was a pandemic discuss how countries tried to stop the spread/success with doing it  Do not discuss what you/your reader may not understand, such as mechanisms, synthesis reactions, modes of transport in the body, etc.  Anyone should be able to understand the material that you include in the paper! Use 12pt font, double spaced paragraphs, and 1 inch margins all around – no headers or footers. Be sure there is no extra space between paragraphs. Punctuation, spelling and grammar count!  You may use Wikipedia – just go down to the bottom and make sure the reference for that piece of information is VALID – a journal article, encyclopedia, scholarly website. This paper is a report.  Give FACTS.  No bullet points, no section/paragraph headings, and NO direct quotes.  This should be in your words. Also, no sources in parentheses in paper.   A list of sources is REQUIRED – NOT citations, just a list of SOURCES (URL and page name if online source).  The sources page does NOT count towards your 3 pages and you should not have sources listed in the paper. Organize your information in paragraphs that make sense – not ones that bounce all over back and forth with different types of information just thrown together.  If you are talking about the discovery, only talk about that in the paragraph – not the dangers.  (Read your paper out loud – when you take a breath or stop, you need a comma or a period.) The paper should not be one huge paragraph.  It should make sense! For example, put the history in one paragraph; symptoms and cures in another, etc. Do not include a summary, a conclusion, ask the reader questions, give your personal feelings or ideas – this is a report about the disease.  Not if you found it interesting, why you picked it, whether or not you are offended/ upset/happy/sad about it or how an outbreak was handled, etc.  You should not use the words “I” or “YOU” in this report. Don’t go off on a tangent to make your 3 page minimum.  For example, if there was a pandemic, don’t tell me about how many flights were canceled or which airline disinfected their planes, etc. It’s about the disease.
