Task: In this assignment, you will write a brief essay (250-300 words) to prepare you to participate actively in the class’ third debate. The class will debate two issues from the Taking Sides reader: 1.     Issue 3.5 “Should the U.S. Withdraw its Military from Afghanistan Immediately?” and 2.     Issue 4.2 “Is the UN a Worthwhile Organization?” READ: Every  student should read all four articles: Issue 3.5 Yes; Issue 3.5 No; Issue 4.2 Yes, and Issue 4.2 No. WRITE Essay: Every student should choose one of the topics (either 3.5 or 4.2) and write a 250-300 word essay summarizing the “yes” and no” sides of this topic and stating your position. SUBMIT: Upload this essay to Canvas by the deadline.   INSTRUCTIONS:  1.     Stay within the word limit.
