Description
After taking an entire semester of coursework dedicated to this topic, you will be able to construct a solid argument, using three defining events in Black history, to answer that question. Please keep in mind that there are no strictly “right” or “wrong” answers to this question. However, to maintain an adequate amount of historical distance from the present, no event should be more recent than the 1990s. Each moment should also be at least 20-25 years apart from the next event. Keep in mind that the purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate that you can defend your choices using a clearly constructed argument and supporting evidence. This is not a summary. A strong paper will describe the origins, major contributing events and actors, and current relevance of your chosen topics. Your job is to contextualize and analyze your subject. Explain what it is and why it matters. Be creative and allow yourself room to investigate experiences outside of what you usually encounter in classroom and during Black History Month. There is more. Find it. Research it. Construct a thoughtful narrative.
