Description
This will be your chance to look ahead to the last section of the course syllabus in order to pose 2-3 questions to our three guest speakers to come: UI librarian Tim Arnold (Nov. 10, on the alt.Right and the Internet), UI Rhetoric Professor Robert Peck (moderating Reddit), and School of Journalism & Mass Communication Director David Ryfe (Can journalism (and democracy) survive the present state of the media?) Look back at through the assigned historical reading for comparisons, refer to your own experiences or look ahead at readings to come to suggest topics that we might address with our guests. Length of your papers—2-3 pp., double-spaced. Overall a pretty open-ended essay but want to compare old and new conservatism. Along with stuff about the current pandemic.
