In Discussion Forum 5, post your response to the following discussion prompt in English. Reply to at least two classmates’ responses by the date indicated in the Course Calendar. In your responses, include the bibliographic information for any sources you may have used and/or any questions that would lead to productive discussion and analysis. Read one or more of the articles listed below or do independent research on a topic that interests you about the different varieties and dialects of Spanish. Then, thoroughly respond to at least one of the following questions in a 250-word (or more) post: How are languages and dialects different and/or similar? How are they manifested in the Spanish-speaking world? Have you heard Spanish speakers from different places? What did you notice? Or, if you have not specifically heard Spanish speakers, find some native or bilingual Spanish speakers and interview them so that you can hear their Spanish. What did you notice? What are some reasons that there are so many varieties of Spanish? Explain. Describe the distinctions between tú, vos, vosotros, and ustedes, taking geography into account.
