In preparation for this essay, you will take a virtual tour of our art museum on campus, The Zuckerman Museum of Art, by visiting the attached link: https://arts.kennesaw.edu/visual-arts/events-activities/exhibitions/capstone-1-2020.php During your tour, you will pick out a piece of art or a small collection that you would like to analyze. Your analysis is attempting to evaluate your piece of art based on your chosen criteria, define the message or purpose of the piece of art, and determine whether or not you think that is effectively conveyed to the artists’ audience. I would also recommend that you read and consider the Artist Biography and Artist Statement for each collection, as they might shed some light on your analysis of the piece. 4 complete pages, 2 pages for rough draft ○ MLA formatting, including a Works Cited page ○ Include a picture of the piece(s) of art you are analyzing or a link to the piece In your introductory paragraph you will provide relevant information about the piece of art: What does it look like? Who is the artist? What materials are used for the composition of the piece of art? As you develop your paper, you will also discuss criteria for the evaluation of the piece, such as what makes this piece of art important? What do you think the message behind this piece of art is? Then you must support the claim you are making in your evaluation by providing evidence and specific examples in your essay. Then, address whether or not the piece of art meets the audience’s needs and expectations, as well as your own needs and expectations, more specifically. You do not have to analyze a piece of art that you felt positively towards; you can write about a piece of art that you did not find appealing if you would prefer. In your conclusion, provide a reflection on your experience interacting with this piece of art and discuss how the piece of art made you feel and why it made you feel this way, citing specific details from the piece.
