Using search engines find two different recent (within 2 years) journal articles involving data mining. Describe the role of “data mining” in the story using your own words.

Role of Data Mining

Data mining is a process used to extract data from larger set of data. It also involves analysis of data based on some trends or patterns. Data mining is also known as Knowledge discovery in data (KDD). It is easier to uncover important facts from complicated datasets. Many organizations use datamining to discover relationship between multiple departments like media, sales, customers, etc to identify any trends that are helpful for planning.

Data mining is not just for relational data. It can also be used with spatio-temporal data where the attributes related to space and time are present. According to the following reference,

What is data mining?

Data mining is the extraction of data from the data warehouse with the help of an algorithm. This technique is used to study patterns and predict the market, which will be helpful for business growth and helpful in providing reports. Data mining in been used in almost all fields, for example, in the meteorological department, in space science, and others. Data mining is a part of knowledge discovery in a database that converts raw data into useful information.

In this assignment, I will be considering two papers that use data mining concept for its research.

The authors of this paper discuss the severity of Chronic Kidney Disease(CKD) and how to sever it can be if not recognized in the early stage. If the stage of this disease is high, the treatment cost is high. Here they collected data and studied the pattern of the lifestyle of people suffering from this CKD. Diabetic patients have the possibility of high blood pressure. Hypertension is a significant bio mark for CKD.

The data is collected from the mall, and this raw data is processed to sort the color, range, and color sold at a particular time. Another classification is made based on the material, which is preferred by the customer example, upper material, sole material, for road walking. After collecting the data, they built a Bayesian model.
