Objectives
Your company is currently investigating the use of Linux. Your manager has asked you to research
the feasibility of using Linux in both the server and workstation environments (from the operating
system point of view). Your manager would like to see an 8- to 10-page paper and a Power Point
presentation, delivered through a video recording. The course project topic:
1. Compares and contrasts Linux server and Linux workstation OS products between three separate
and distinct Linux distros (i.e., RedHat, SuSe, Ubuntu ); and
2. Addresses the specific issues of

Guidelines
The following is a list of guidelines for your Course Project.
1. The Course Project is worth 185 points and is comprised of the following deliverables.
1.1. Week 3: Outline (20 points)
1.2. Week 6: Paper (80 points)
1.3. Week 7: Power Point and Video Presentation (85)
2. The paper shall only address business requirements and concerns, not personal or home use of
Linux.
3. The project shall address three different Linux vendors, along with each vendor’s specific
server and workstation product.
4. Each comparison or contrast item should include each of the three specific vendors—for both
server and workstation products.
5. The primary emphasis on grading will address comparison and contrast items; however, you must
still provide references and cite your work throughout the paper.
6. All DeVry University policies are in effect, including the plagiarism policy.
7. Use each week’s lecture, reading assignments, labs, and discussions as guidance and supporting
information for your paper.
8. APA formatting is required for your paper.
9. The paper is intended to be a professional document.
10. Questions concerning the paper may be discussed in the weekly Q & A discussion topic.

module. You will also discuss your outline in WebEx video meeting in this week.
Weeks 4–5
There are no deliverables due these weeks, but you should continue working on your paper. Post
questions in the Course Q & A Forum in the Introduction & Resources module.
Week 6
Submit the assignment as instructed. Please read the Week 6 Paper Rubric below to understand
how your paper will be graded.
Week 7
Submit the Power Point presentation, and post the video recording to week 7, video recording topic.

introduction.

due, a good paper always begins with early preparation. Follow the guidelines provided and use the
lesson and lab assignments as a starting point for your paper.
