Hi Class…the following are the final assignments for our course. It has gone by rather quickly…yes? Our semester officially ends on August 6th. For Wednesday July 29: Minimalism. Just as the word implies, we’re talking about “doing much with very little.” Choose a song whose lyrics are very bare, brief, yet to the point. Or, choose a song whose instrumentation is very bare and yes, minimal. For those of you who are musicians, there are classic songs composed strictly on one chord!!! I’ll leave the interpretation of minimalism TOTALLY UP TO YOU …..but….”make it make sense.” Thus, convince the reader (me) why you think, feel, perceive this song to be a valid representation of minimalism.  300 words For Thursday July 30: Choose ONE of the following:  either an album whereby the artist has composed all of the songs, produced the album, and plays ALL of the instruments and sings ALL of the vocal parts (Example – Stevie Wonder’s  Innervisions) – or  – choose an album (not just a song) with a political theme.  Explain WHY and HOW  either album choice is UNIQUE.  “Unique” is the key word here so find that “extra something special” about it. 300 words Due by August 6: the final project.
