Argumentative Essay Instructions for project: 1) Choose a controversial topic that interests you, something you feel very strongly about. Do some preliminary research to see what information is available. 2) What is the thesis? Claim? Argument? Contention? (These all mean the same thing.) You must choose a side of the argument. Use the words should or should not…or pose a question: Should Trump be re elected? Or a statement: Trump should not be re elected. Keep it short, sweet, and direct. It must be clear what you are defending. 3) Support your position with research (facts, evidence, stats) from credible and current research (within the last 5 years and no Wiki). 4) Tell me what the opposition is, the other side(s) of the issue. This shows me that you understand all positions even though you are choosing to agree with one. 5) What have you concluded? 6) What type of action should be taken to remedy the problem? 7) Please use objective, third person language: eg.
