We have come a very long way from the Middle Ages to the Contemporary era; a trip of some 1000 years. For this forum I want you to choose two art mediums (from this list: painting, sculpture, architecture, music, literature ) from the Middle Ages and two from the our contemporary era and discuss the major change. How has this particular ART FORM changed from the distant past (the Middle Ages) to our contemporary time (the last 75 years or so)? For each, what are the major differences you see and what aspects of the art remain relatively the same?
So the three requirements/parts 1) Make sure you discuss art works from the Middle Ages (Michelangelo and Leonardo for example are NOT from the Middle Ages; from Contemporary era select from week 7 or any art/music/architecture/literature from Week 6 that was created after 1960.
2) Make sure that you employ specifics in your response, e.g., one or two specific paintings or one or two musical compositions, architectural buildings, sculptures, etc– all of these specific examples must come from the powerpoints or videos. Once again your choices must be ones that are discussed/examined here in JetNet.
3. Spend the largest portion of your post on the contemporary contours rather than Middle Ages. What is different NOW! Post by 11:59pm on Sunday July 26th. At least 300 words total –that’s 150 words for each of the two ART genres.
In brief, for example, I would chose for my first focus to discuss the music of the Gregorian chant (middle ages) with the music of John Cage; for my second I would choose something from painting, or architecture (e.g., compare a cathedral with the Guggenhiem).
