Description
Over the quarter we are working on a research paper. I attached my proposal. The topic is Food deserts in rural and urban areas. Instructions for the assignment: The Annotated Bibliography is a blueprint of your research in the form of a brief, concise summary and keen analysis of texts. It breaks down like this: Citations: Source information in MLA format. Annotations: Summary, description, explanation of ideas in the source. This requires you to demonstrate a thorough understanding of your source material and its contribution to the ongoing conversation about your issue. You may also want to describe each source’s potential relevance to your own research project. All this in about 150 words Remember that you will need to review your source material several times in order to complete this kind of analysis thoroughly. I cannot stress this enough: YOUR SOURCES MUST BE CREDIBLE. Review previous videos if you have questions about this. Unreliable source annotations won’t be graded. Please read the following directions carefully. Formatting matters now. To be successful on this assignment you must be precise in both formatting and content. Your annotated bibliography must contain the following: 1. HEADING in the top left-hand corner. 2. TITLE: Use only “Annotated Bibliography” as your title (not in quotation marks) Center this title at the top of the page. Capitalize the first letter of each word (not the whole thing). Do not bold, italicize, or underline the title. 3. CITATIONS List 10-12 sources in alphabetical order according to the last name of the author. Provide a complete MLA format citation for each source. [The citation information is the same as an MLA Works Cited page; the formatting is slightly different. The formatting difference is that Annotated Bibliography citations are in bold font like this, whereas Works Cited citations are not.] 4. ANNOTATIONS Annotate each citation like this: State the author’s claim or main point. Offer a brief analysis of the main claim. Identify the information and ideas that are most relevant to your research paper, such as significant arguments and findings. Indicate how you might use the source in your research paper (where possible.) Annotations are plain font; not bold. Format: Use a standard font: Calibri, Times New Roman, Cambria, Arial. The font should be 11 or 12 point. I don’t mind 10pt either, and it saves paper (but do this with the understanding that that’s not a conventional size. Write annotations in paragraph form, single-spaced (1.5 max) The Annotated Bibliography is NOT a Works Cited page, but you will use these citations for your Works Cited pages on both the Analytical and Position Papers.
