Description
Hi, I’m new to this sort of stuff but here is what I need for my essay. My professor asks us to write a postmodern short story. So far, I’m quite having a little bit of trouble coming up with a story because I don’t understand what postmodernism is. Yet, while doing a little bit of research it still didn’t help me understand what it means. So far, there are different types of writing styles of postmodernism. One of them is called “paranoia” where the character feels out of place but everything remains the same. I want to use to type of writing style for my essay but I don’t know what to write or do with this type of style. I’ll give a description of what our professor wants us to do. Here my professor’s description: “Write a postmodern short story. While this choice allows for a strong degree of creativity, you’ll need to follow certain guidelines. First of all, your story either in the telling or through the character’s actions or circumstance must challenge modern notions of “Truth.” Second, the story must comply with traditional mechanics—that is, if you’re going to use quotes, make sure that those quotes are done correctly. If you’re not sure how to do it, look it up. Finally, the story must actually tell a story. I would suggest being as graphic and using as many of the senses as you can. The use of senses builds a story’s imagistic appeal. ANALYSIS: You must also include a detailed analysis of why your characters and situations are set up the way they are and why what happens. The analysis should be at least half as long as the story. The story should be at least 600 words, so the analysis should be, at minimum, 300”. I did a little bit to organize my story. The mine character suffers from a mental disease that gives her a sense of non-reality to the world. She feels she doesn’t belong in these ‘human world’ and that she is special. Other than that feel free to add any ideas or plots twist in the story. If you want to discuss a few details feel free to contact me at any time. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.
