Crisis Interview

I conducted my interview on Markesia Blair who works alongside case managers for DFACS. My interview consisted of 6 questions which were. 1.These are the questions I asked 2.What is the key to success when communicating to the public? 5.Tell me how you organize, plan, and prioritize your work. 6.Give me an example of when you thought outside the box and how did it help your employer? These are her answers. 1. I had a child that had severe mental health issues and her parents couldn’t and wouldn’t get the help she needed but instead dope her up on medication. One time she threaten to kill me in front of the cops bc I called them when she ran away from my coworker. I noticed that her behavior only escalated when she wasn’t in my presence or if another child was getting my attn and she wasn’t. Once handcuffed and sent to the hospital to be 1013’d, she calmed down after she noticed I wasn’t going anywhere until she left to go to crisis treatment. Once she was released, instead of sending a service provider to pick her up, I did it myself bc I felt like she would be more comfortable seeing me after being in crisis for a while. My attn was what she craved bc attn was something she wasn’t getting at home. 2. Be as direct and as clear as possible. Leave nothing up for guessing. Enunciate also. & speak where the public will understand you (big words aren’t always necessary) 5) I use a calendar for everything. Phone calendar, written calendar ..both. That’s how I planned. Organized things by clients name/case & the order in which they were received. Prioritized by writing on a “to do list” for the day & number the things in order which require my attn first. 6.Okay we had an irate 5 y/o child who had just been taking into foster care along w her sisters. She was the middle child but her behavior was off. The. Chain. Literally cussed EVERYBODY out & told her sisters “pack ya shit bitches. It’s time to move again” well I noticed that she had taken a liking to her case manager & I bc we were honest w her and let her color while we visited. She just wanted to make cards & stuff for her mom every tome we visited. So we used that as an incentive. If stay out of crisis & get good reports from your foster parent and teachers, when we visit, we’ll bring you a art bag so you can make your cards and give to your momma when she visits” we even let her video call her mom sometimes when we visited which was disobeying the court order but we had to give a little in order to get some. She was literally in crisis 3x before she even lasted a week in a foster home.
