Module 3-Conflict Resolution paper This course covers a range of topics involved in Interpersonal communication grouped into three modules. This third module deals with understanding the contexts and nature of interpersonal conflicts so that when possible the conflicts can be resolved and relationships preserved. You have now reviewed the chapters from the book associated with this module, completed the chapter Activities, the Module 1 Personal Inventories exam, and the Models exam. You have also analyzed yourself and the tools you use to negotiate interpersonal communication in your Module Two project paper. You now need to use what you have learned to diagnose the issues underlying interpersonal conflict and propose a plan to preserve the relationship of the people involved. Select one of the scenarios that follow in these instructions. Assume the role of one of the characters in your chosen scenario, address the questions and deal with the issues in the four (4) sections that follow the scenarios. Use the rubric for this assignment to help you structure your analysis and proposal. Here are the situations or scenarios. Pick one scenario and assume the role of one character. Chris and Becca have been on a tight budget since buying a new home while also saving to start a family. Becca takes the lead on paying the bills and keeping up with the budget. Lately, Chris has been buying items that fall outside the agreed to budget and household needs without consulting Becca. For the last two months, Becca has moved money from savings to cover Chris’ extra purchases. Becca has discussed these spending habits with Chris in the past, but while paying the bills this month, she again came across what she considers another frivolous expense from Chris. Jordan and Cameron have been on the same crew at work for the last five years. Jordan has been coming in late to work for the past few weeks. Cameron has been covering for Jordan in setting up the work area for the day’s production so that the team can meet its daily quota. Yesterday, the regional manager visited the work site. While there, the manager singled out Jordan for making quota for the quarter. Jordan does not recognize the rest of the team for their work. Cameron feels that Jordan took all the credit and becomes angry and resentful. The next week Cameron organizes a social gathering for the crew without inviting Jordan. Jordan finds out and confronts Cameron at work the next day. Pat and Sam, friends for ten years, are furious with one another. Pat recently went through a painful breakup from a long-term relationship. Pat discovers on social media that their ex-partner is in a relationship with Sam. Pat feels a strong desire to lash out at Sam, to spread rumors, and to cause as much hurt as Pat feels now. Pat angrily confronts Sam about the new relationship over text message.Sam did not know about the social media post and had planned to speak with Pat later that day. Sam is confused and defensive, yet also values Pat’s friendship. Your project paper should be 5 pages (+/– one page), 12 font, double spaced. Use a word processor that can save a file to a Word compatible format (.doc, .docx, .rtf). Make sure to proof-read your paper for grammar and spelling errors before you upload it for grading. Excessive errors will result in point deductions. You need to address the following 4 sections in a cohesive paper. I don’t care if you number the sections but they should relate and build on the previous sections as you progress to your concluding proposal. (1 element) What is the difference in power between your character and the other character? (1 element) 2. Analyze the conflict. Use the Satir or Filley conflict model to analyze the conflict. (1 element) How can you use the Pillow Method to adjust the perception of the topic (Satir) or perceived/ felt conflict (Filley)? (1 element) 3. Create a win-win solution by following a rational model process step by step. Select a rational process from the models resource book in Moodle associated with the Model exam. (1 element) Which parts of your plan of action do you think will be difficult and why? (1 element) Address the consequences of using a win-lose, lose-win, lose-lose, and compromise method. (3 elements) 4. Describe a personal example where you used (or could have used) a win-win conflict resolution approach. (1 element) (12 total elements required for Module 3 project paper.
